New Spring Decor

This is my spring mantle. I got some new fake flowers and the cute vase at Jo Ann's.

This is my dining room table. I've added a little plant since I took the photo.

The library table and table behind the love seat.

Bringing in some yellow to go with new chair.

I turned some of my pillows around because the fabrics didn't go with my new chair as well. Lucky I put a nice quilted off white on the backs.

Borrowed turquoise blue tray from my dd for coffee table.

I need to recover bottom cushion one of these days, but until then I have it covered with an old quilt.

My New Chair

My dd found this at the Goodwill for $25. She decided it would look better in my house so this is an early Mother's Day present.

I've been wanting another chair but no money and most of the new chairs are too big, so I love this.

Because I wanted to bring some of that yellow into my room I've gone ahead and redecorated for spring, I'll do a post later in the week showing you what I did.

Stacking China and Glass

One day when my dd was over we were talking about decorating and I mentioned that I only had one place in the kitchen, in front of the corner window, for display. She said she would do something on the bar area which I don't really use except to drop things that should go elsewhere.

She likes to stack things and we pulled out some stuff and this is the result. I think it's pretty cute.

The little dome in the middle is suppose to be for cheese. It has a glass cake plate under it and under that is a sugar bowl.

This is a small square cake stand with this cover from another cake plate.

The bottom of that cake plate we put in my glass cake stand for color. I was thinking about maybe adding some ribbons on top to bring in some of the red but

next to it I make this little display and so that brings in the red and I get to display my new towel and tea pot that my dd's got me.

I also ended up moving the iron stand that was in the corner behind, it was to cluttered looking, so this is it's new home.

It's funny how when you do one thing it affects the rest of the things around it. I'm hoping to get some fake flowers for my kitchen window display and then I think I'm done with my kitchen.

Redo on Mantle

I tweaked my mantle again. I'm not ready to go full into a spring look but I added the purple candles and removed the snow flake and snow picture. I also added some books. I wanted to raise up the flowers so everything wasn't at the same height.

Last year I changed to my spring look too early and we still had cold weather and rain and I found I wanted that cozy winter look still. So I'm waiting this year.

Kitchen Update Pt 2

Well the curtains are done and I'm quite pleased with them. They are lined also. I added some more china plates to the wall too and these small red plastic plates I had with polka dots on them. I took down my clock and put the tin picture in it's place because the colors went so well. I have high ceilings in this room and decorating up to the ceiling makes it feel a lot cozier.

Kitchen New Touches

Took down the napkins that I was using for cafe curtains and got some fabric. I wanted to add some more color. To be honest I still have to hem these and possible add a lining. I'm afraid they might fade too fast.

I got inspired my Manuela at A Cultivated Nest's kitchen makeover to add a few new touches. I also added this platter to a bare spot.

Winter Mantle

This is my winter mantle, subtle color and the white snowflake my dd and gd's made for Christmas. The stone bunny is from my porch.
It's a dark rainy day here so far, a good day to be inside with a cup of tea and a good book.

My Picture Wall

I finished my picture wall. I wanted it to be organic, not to formal. I started with the big oil painting, it was already there. The pine cabinet use to be next to it. I tried to use different sized pictures and I laid them all out on the floor first. It's not perfect, but it's good enough.

I wanted to anchor it with a  piece of furniture so I put my library table below with a bird display on it.

This photo is during the day, the others are at night. I changed out the little picture on the right to a more colorful one. The picture wall adds a lot of color to this room and I really like it. The photos don't do it justice.

Tea Cabinet

I took all the gardening books out of my pine cabinet and put my tea stuff in instead.

I like to think out of the box with furniture arrangements and I got the idea to move this cabinet so that it faces my kitchen and becomes an extension of it, the back butts up to my dining room table. It's a little weird but it make the dining room feel very cozy.

I put a lot of stuff on top to make it look a little taller and create more of a wall.

This is the other side

Today I'm working on a picture wall in this same room where this cabinet use to be. I'm not sure if I'll keep this as is, I have to live with it a while. Also in the summer I may want a more open look.

My New Year

This is my den/guest room. I moved things around again. My desk is going to be my new quiet time space.
I've manage to squeeze a bed in this room but it is very cozy. I also keep reference books and binder in this room. The walk in closet is where I keep my office supplies and extra pantry items and now some of my Christmas decorations.

This year I moved my laptop off of my desk. It's not ideal, but I'm using what I have. I like having my desk free for other things. I don't take my laptop all over the house. I like to have it in one spot along with the printer. I always use January to set up my files and booking for the new year.

I've taken down most of my decorations. I still have to do the tree today. I'm in a moving furniture mood, so I'm going to do some experimenting. I love to move things around, it makes it feel like a new room.

I've been thinking about goals for the new year, but really I'm still working on the same ones, lose weight, declutter, do a quiet time, get more exercise. For the last few years I haven't started the year with any great motivation to do something new.

Amanda on Always Amanda addresses it as a new chapter in her continuing journey. I like that and that is how I feel.

I don't do much for new years. I might stay up and watch the fireworks on tv and I might just go to bed with my book. lol. But Happy New Year to you all.

More Decorations-Christmas Cards

I got these cups at the Christmas House a few years ago and haven't really used them. So when I was decluttering I decided to put them out with my decorations. It looks like a snowman ride at the fair.

My garland is very simple this year. Those red things are pompoms. It was a very soft garland and I just looped it around itself.

I like to display some of my favorite cards from the past. This year I tucked them into my bookcase.

We are going to see The Hobbit today. I can't wait.
